1o Geniko Lykeio Giannitson (1st Lyceum of Giannitsa) is a public General Lyceum dedicated to providing comprehensive education and preparing students for admission to Higher Education. Beyond academic excellence, we actively promote initiative and participation in diverse fields, including cultural and social initiatives, health education, environmental awareness, and sustainability. Our students engage in sports, arts, and national championships, as well as various competitions ranging from Entrepreneurship and Economics to STEM, Biology, and Debate.
The school maintains a consistent presence in European programs such as eTwinning, Erasmus+, and Euroscola. Our experienced teaching staff is committed to continuous professional development, constantly acquiring new skills to meet the evolving demands of modern education. We participate in scientific conferences and initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between the school and the wider community, fostering the development of active citizenship.
Our student population consists of adolescents aged 15–18. Many of our students hold language and ICT certifications, excel in individual or team sports, or are accomplished musicians. At the same time, we embrace a diverse community that includes students with cognitive, psychomotor, or social challenges. Our school is a multicultural environment, welcoming second- and third-generation immigrants.
Our school has a rich history of international collaboration, including:
Comenius School Partnership: "Been there, done that as a young European citizen" (2012-2014).

Participation in these programs has been a catalyst for student progress and the professional growth of our staff. Beyond improving language and ICT skills, participants have enhanced their transversal skills, cultivated intercultural awareness, and integrated best practices into our school community.
This engagement has allowed our school to build a strong European profile and establish a robust network with international partners. This networking connects our students with peers across Europe—both virtually and through physical mobility. Our Teachers' Board firmly believes that a school’s success lies in fostering the holistic development of the entire school community, a goal best achieved through consistent involvement in European initiatives.
